Philippine Children’s Medical Center
It was an ordinary day at the Chummy Chum Foundation when a chat message arrived from a generous donor, eager to share her blessings with sick children from underserved families. Ms. Claire, knowing every second counts for these children, was determined to make it happen swiftly.
Chummy Chum graciously accepted Ms. Claire’s wish. After several discussions with various government hospitals, they decided to visit the children at the Pediatric Out-Patient Department of the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC). This department received over 100 children daily, each battling different severe illnesses.
Ms. Claire and her family came prepared with food packs, toys, loot bags, and gifts for 100 children. Their hearts warmed at the sight of what Chummy Chum had provided: popcorn, cotton candy, and special gifts including coloring books, pillows, and wristbands.
The hospital's strict rules limit movements and the number of volunteers for charity events. However, Chummy Chum (the mascot) never fails to play his part. He arrived and spent some time chatting with the children, who were just as thrilled as when they first met him weeks or months ago (Chummy Chum is a regular visitor to the hospital). They always long for his presence, which seems to momentarily lift their spirits. His visits add an extra layer of joy.
The moment was brief but created lasting happy memories, not only for Ms. Claire and her family but especially for all the children who had the opportunity to join the charity event.
