Lifting Spirits: Ms. Portia and Chummy Chum’s Special Birthday Surprise for Little Heart Warrior

8 September 2024

Angelic Heart Philippines, Pasig Chapter

Ms. Portia wanted to make a meaningful impact by celebrating her birthday with a special event for sick children. She partnered with the Chummy Chum Foundation to organize a Charity Birthday Party for the brave little warriors of Angelic Heart Philippines in Pasig City.

The children were welcomed into a cozy and comforting space, designed to make them feel safe and happy. Given their delicate medical conditions, which required them to avoid extreme emotions that could trigger their heart ailments, the event was carefully planned to balance joy with calmness.

The program featured a clown duo and a ventriloquist, who delighted the children with a magic show, puppet show, and parlor games. Although the joyful atmosphere was moderated, the children enjoyed every moment, their faces lighting up with smiles.

They were treated to delicious food, a variety of gifts, toys, and bags of grocery items with the cotton candy being a particular highlight as they watched the sugary treat spun into fluffy sweetness on a stick.

The most fun part was when Chummy Chum, the beloved mascot, joined the children and played with them. For many, this was the first time they had the chance to interact with a character they had only heard about. The presence of Chummy Chum was a magical experience, bringing the children immense happiness and a sense of normalcy.

The brief but unforgettable moments with Chummy Chum seemed to lift the children's spirits, making them forget their ailments, if only for a short while. The fun and joy they experienced created lasting memories that strengthened their hearts in more ways than one.

A special thanks goes to Chef Lally for generously sharing gifts with the children, adding to the day's joy and celebration, and the volunteers who took care of the orderly and safety of those who were present in the event.
