CMAP No. 203, FA, 3, Congenital Heart Disease Tetralogy of Fallot, Philippine Heart Center
FA was diagnosed was born with a birth defect that affects normal blood flow through the heart – it is called Tetralogy of Fallot. It happens when a baby’s heart does not form correctly as the baby grows and develops in the mother’s womb during pregnancy. FA underwent open heart surgery and currently taking maintenance medicine. FA’s condition is sensitive – he can’t be too happy, too excited, too sad, or too angry, as his skin and nails turned black when he does.
The father is a minimum wage earner while the mother stays at home taking care of the sick child. The income barely covers the basic needs of the family more so the medical and nutritional needs of their sick child.
FA received from CCFPI a Php 20,000 total value of medical assistance to help with his recovery.
